$25,000 collected for the Tsunami Relief Fund
at the Sikh Temple Sacramento

On December 31, 2004, a new year eve program was planned at the Sikh Temple Sacramento from 7:00 pm to midnight.  The main prayer hall was overflowing with the congregation, who listened to various kirtan jathas and felt blessed by Waheguru for participating in this blissful experience.

At the same time in the Sikh Temple, Gurdwara Management Committee arranged the Tsunami Relief Fund Collection, and the attendees were requested to donate cash for this noble cause to help at the time of dire need.  There was a continuous line of contributors, and by the end of the Bhog ceremony, $25,000 had been collected for this Relief Fund. This donation is planned to be sent as soon as possible to the relief organizations for the welfare of the Tsunami victim

CONTRIBUTION TO THE RELIEF FUND FOR VICTIMS OF ATTACKS ON
SEPTEMBER 11, 2001
In sympathy with the victims of September 11, 2001 attacks, the Sikh Temple Sacramento has donated $20,000. These funds were contributed by the Gurdwara Sangat (Congregation) and were distributed as follows: $10,000 to the Red Cross Fund, $5,000 to the Police Fund, and $5,000 to the Fire Department.

EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUND
Gurdwara Sangat has overwhelmingly participated in response to the appeal for help to the victims of Earthquake in Gujrat, India.
A large truck container full of clothes has already been sent to India. In addition, approximately $13,000 have also been collected and are being sent to the victims through a relief agency.

It is extremely sad to announce that Mr. Jagat Singh Rye was involved in a car accident with a truck on Friday, June 30, 2006, and passed away.  Mr. Rye co-founded the West Sacramento Gurdwara in 1983, and presently was Chairman of the Gurdwara Executive Committee.

Mr. Rye was one of the earliest volunteers and a determined leader of the Sikh Community in Sacramento and Stockton areas. Mr. Rye’s death is an extreme loss to his family, friends, West Sacramento Gurdwara, and to the Sacramento Sikh Community.  We pray that Waheguru provide strength to his family to bear this untimely and irreplaceable loss.
